Enjoy the Ride Tag Necklace

Two engraved brass tags, each on its own chain, kept in a leather tag holder that closes the set and stops the brass from rattling. It is the 1940s military identification necklace remade in materials that age well.

The rectangular tag is the larger one, 1.9 by 1.2 in (4.9 by 3 cm), and comes on the long chain. The oval, 1.4 by 0.7 in (3.5 by 1.85 cm), comes on the short chain and sits on top, tucked into the pocket of the holder. Both come out of the leather and separate: you can wear only the rectangle, only the oval, or both loose without the holder, like the original issue.

The brass is matte and comes already darkened, a gold pulled toward brown that does not shine like costume jewelry. The lines are engraved in relief, cut into the metal, not printed. The oval reads Life is an adventure, enjoy the ride. The rectangle reads No one chooses to carry darkness, but light demands a shadow.

The tag holder is full grain cowhide, 2.3 by 1.6 in (5.9 by 3.95 cm), stitched with light thread along the edges. It holds both tags and plays the part of a silencer: without it, brass on brass rattles with every step. With wear, the leather darkens at the edges and marks where the hand grips it.

On the body, the tag falls at chest height, inside or outside the shirt.

Care

• Brass darkens over time and with skin contact. To brighten, rub with a dry cotton cloth. To keep it as it came, do nothing
• Take it off before the sea or the pool
• If the leather gets wet, dry in the shade, no heat
• Store in the box, with the tags inside the holder, so they do not scratch
