Lookout Washed Cotton Bucket Hat

The bucket hat was born functional. It started as a fisherman's and Irish farmer's hat, made of greased wool to shed rain, and it got this far because it solves one thing no cap solves: the brim runs all the way around the head, so it shades the ears and the neck, not just the face.

This one is 100% cotton with a garment wash. The wash is done on the finished hat, not on the yarn, and that is why the color comes out uneven: lighter on the folds and edges, fuller in the middle of the panels. The hat arrives looking already worn, which is exactly the point. No two come out the same.

The band is stitched on and runs through three loops of the same fabric. It is work hat finishing, not a glued on trim.

One size that fits because it adjusts

Inside runs a drawcord with a toggle, hidden in the sweatband. You pull it until it sits and the toggle holds. That is what makes the 55 to 58 cm (21.7 to 22.8 in) range work for real instead of being a number on the label. Measure around your head just above the ears, across the middle of the forehead.

Four colors, all washed

None of them is a full saturated color, and that is deliberate. They are tones of earth, stone and charcoal, the kind that does not compete with the rest of the outfit and works with a plain shirt as well as with a stripe.
